And here is MY tree!

I decided to put up my Christmas tree this week! I tried something new!

My sister put her tree up first (pictured below and you can also see it here on her blog) and she decorated it with this fancy fake snow, it looks SO pretty I had to try it too! I'm proud to be a copy cat :)

So what do you think, the snow doesn't look as natural on my tree as it dose on her tree, but I've been adjusting since I took the picture this afternoon. The one bad thing about the snow is that it doesn't leave a lot of room for the ornaments to really shine, it tends to cover them up, so I had to adjust and then I added more ornaments on top.

Getting Excited for Christmas!!

It's not just the cake...

Since this must be CAKE APPRECIATION WEEK on the Crafty Bonnet we can't forget one of my all time favorite cakes, the monkey cake!

Isn't he adorable? Oh yes and my boy is too of course. Those are ding-dongs I used for the ears.

My sons birthday is right after Halloween and just before this particular birthday my husband lamented that this child's birthday would always get neglected because of it's closeness to Halloween.

I took that as a challenged and worked like crazy to make sure he wasn't neglected at all!
And I'm not totally crazy, as you can see I let Subway do the cooking.

I did a lot of stamping and paper cutting, I had these awesome monkey stamps that I stamped on balloons and then blew them up.

I am most proud of this party I think because of all the homemade decorations (I used a lot of construction paper)

"Baking a cake is fun to do, fun to do, to do, to do..."

I don't know what it is that I love about making a cake... I just like to see what I can do, see how it will come out... It's really fun!

Spidey Birthday Cake

I have to tell you, that I had so much fun making this cake. Cakes never tun out the way I expect, so it's always interesting to see how they'll turn out. At one point I suggested scraping of all the icing and starting over, but my husband said he wouldn't allow that, after all the energy I'd already put into it. I think my favorite part is the side of the cake, I was inspired by the way my boys draw spider man, just a red stick figure, that's what made the cake personal to me.

An OLD picture...

...of me in my swap apron. I love to wear it!

Just sharing

These are some of my favorite things I decorated with in my old house. I had a beachy theme with a soft sea blue. This room always made me happy.

Cool Dream

Last night I dreamt I was a ballet instructor and I owned my own bakery! I only taught beginning ballet for little 3 and 4 year olds and it was my side job, my main love was the bakery and I made really famous cup cakes, they were SO cute too! I've never seen anything like them so I don't know how I could be that creative in my sleep. I'm not sure I have the refined skills to make them in real life yet but I have the concept. It was lots of fun and it was like my subconscious telling me it wasn't to late to make my dreams come true, what a cool message from myself!

Lightsaber Cup Cakes!

I totally have to make these! These are from The Pink Cake Box. I'm so in love with this bakery! I would love to be a graduate of the Pastry Arts Program at the French Culinary Institute in New York City just like Anne Heap and start my own bakery, how cool would that be!

I haven't crafted in a long time...

... because my mind has been in interior decorator mode since my sister came to visit and it's been really fun! I enjoy breaking out of my self imposed limitations like I did with sewing but decorating is a big weakness for me, and breaking out is hard, I think it might be linked to my fashion sense I feel almost the same way about that. I really enjoy shopping for clothes with my sisters because it's the only way for me to figure out what to do with myself. I'm crippled in a way, I need their feed back and support. But once I get enough advice I can go it on my own for a while... then I run out of ideas and I start the process over again. Coming back to interior decorating I need lots of help and need lots of inspiration. So my really cool sister drew this (above) design for my family room! I haven't bought a red couch yet but as soon as the money is saved up... it's exciting I can't wait!

And with some etsy pillows...

It looks pretty good don't you think :)

Fun with furniture

My sister and I had fun shopping for a red sofa for my family room. We went to American Furniture Warehouse and saw this fun tomato red sofa (it's better when you take off the icky throw pillows). They have a sale going on right now where you can get a whole room full of furniture for $999. Fun fun I wonder how many people buy the whole set?
